Join Paris Kern for a playful and inspiring exploration of vocal improvisation. Through gentle voice and movement warm-ups, collaborative singing, and spontaneous music-making, experience the magic of creating songs together in real time.  Drawing on Circle Singing, Vocal River, and Música do Círculo practices, these gatherings foster connection, creativity, and a deep sense of belonging.

WHAT IS CIRCLESINGING?

You join the circle and discover the joy of making music in the moment. With simple, guided vocal patterns, we create rich, spontaneous songs—no experience needed. As Bobby McFerrin describes, it’s like finding a language you’ve always known: a space to finally express yourself, surrounded by others doing the same. Explore your voice, expand your rhythm and melody, and sing the “here and now.” It’s playful, freeing, and deeply connecting—an imperfect, vibrant experience of belonging through sound. WHAT IS MÚSICA DO CÍRCULO?

Música do Círculo is an inclusive musical practice, primarily based in Brazil, that promotes human connection, well-being, and community-building through body percussion, voice and collective improvisation.

CircleSinging, a term coined by Bobby McFerrin and his collaborators, is a form of spontaneous choral singing with ancient roots. A group of singers takes part in an ever-shifting tapestry of musical patterns, created and shared in-the-moment by a song leader. Everybody has the potential to sing and participate in such musical experiences alongside others, supporting each other and tapping into each person’s natural musicianship.

Paris has shown me how to reach that "sweet spot" in producing a glorious sound on the trumpet. After each session I can't wait to pick up my horn!

Paris Kern is a Singer focusing primarily on Traditional Folk music and spontaneous composition known as CircleSinging, a form of choral singing developed by Bobby McFerrin. She has also been a Feldenkrais Teacher for 30 years. Paris is now combining these two areas of her life to help singers and musicians discover more freedom, ease and joy in their voice. Using Awareness Through Movement(R) lessons along with movement and vocal explorations musicians discover new potential and uncover old habits that get in the way of their ability to express themselves. The workshops move between making music together and alone, participating in Awareness Through Movement lessons and Master Class work with individuals. Open to the Professional and Amateur Musicians- all will progress at their own level.
